Problem with removal of "Company Knowledge"
Hello,
We have a monitor in a sealed MP to which we have previously associated some
Company Knowledge (stored in a separate override MP).
We would now like to remove the Company Knowledge from the monitor.
Seeing as we are unable to delete the Company Knowledge from the GUI (i.e. no Delete button in the
Company Knowledge tab), I proceeded to remove it by editing the XML:
removing the corresponding KnowledgeArticle elements from
both of our LanguagePack elements (i.e. ENU & ENC; were in Canada);incrementing the MPs version # (though I dont believe that this is required, as it is an unsealed MP); andimporting the new version of the MP into the Management Group
Oddly, the Company Knowledge remains!!!
Can anyone confirm this behavior in their environment?
Also, where do I post bug reports now that the OpsMgr forum on Microsoft Connect has been removed?
Thanks,
Larry

Company knowledge is simply an override. Remove the override, and the knowledge goes away. Did you do that? You cannot remove an override if it's in a sealed override mp, so you will have to find the unsealed version, remove it there,
seal it and import.

Agree with the answer given by Blake. If it is sealed, you need to unseal it first.
Also you can file connect bugs at
https://connect.microsoft.com/sc/Feedback
However we have been told this is for reporting bugs for beta/rc versions of products and not the RTM. Those RTM bugs should be filed through customer support services by openeing a support case. I think this is a bit strange though. Would open a bug on
connect anyway (first look if it has been filed already).Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My Blog about SCOM) - MVP 2012 and Microsoft Community Contributor 2011 Recipient

G'Day Blake,
I don't believe that Company Knowledge is technically an override as:
It is not listed an overridable option in the Override Properties
dialog box; andIt does not appear in the monitor/rule's Overrides Summary dialog box; andIt does not appear in the MP's Overrides section.
Having said this, all of our Company Knowledge is stored in
unsealed override MPs.
Thanks,
Larry

G'Day Roger,
Your workaround worked, though:
I still don't understand why my workaround (i.e. editing the XML by removing the associated
KnowledgeArticle elements (i.e. ENU & ENC) and re-importing the unsealed overrides MP) didn't;It's too bad there isn't a delete button on the Company Kowledge tab
Thanks,
Larry

It is an override. Try to edit knowledge. You have to OVERRIDE the rule/monitor. Save the override in a separate override mp, but it's an override. It will not appear in the OVERRIDE section, because you didn't modify what the monitor/rule
does just the knowledge.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/ If my response was helpful, please mark it as so, if it answered your question, then please also mark it accordingly. Thank you.
